As we say hello to the new year, the Parents' Place FRC wants to wish you all a happy and safe 2022. Parents' Place will remain open remotely during regular business hours: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and continue delivering caring services to protect and support our families and community. We welcome the new year with a strong collaboration with our local Regional Center with a series of workshops, starting with "IEP 101" presented by Nora Perez -Givens. The SG/PRC Outreach and Compliance team will offer "Living Options" and "How We Can Support You." Attending these series will give you an excellent opportunity to meet the SG/PRC team presenters: Mr. Salvador Gonzalez, Director of Community Outreach and Compliance; Xochitl Gonzalez, Community Outreach Specialist; Daniel Ibarra, Fair Hearing Specialist; Amos Byun, Asian Community Outreach Specialist; and Joshua Treviño, BCBA Specialist. We will continue to collaborate with our local School Districts and SELPAs. We look forward to expanding this collaboration with our new alternative dispute resolution "ADR" project. I am pleased to let you know that our Technology Lending Library (TLL) continues running strong. As of today, we have 230 iPads in families' homes. Please do not forget that we have plenty of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all families receiving services from SG/PRC. We continue to have contactless appointments available for families that need to pick up informational materials, PPE kits, iPads, etc. We are here for you! I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was part of our service delivery. First, we want to thank the entire SG/PRC Team for partnering all year long. Our families and community are blessed to have you as partners. Next, we want to thank the H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Cultural Art Museum for opening their doors to our families and children, where they enjoyed a multicultural event, fantastic food, and entertainment. To end the year, we successfully had our drive-through event with the help of our vendor community and volunteers who took part with financial support, goods, toys, and their time. Lastly, our staff and Board of Directors continue to be committed to serving families in the San Gabriel Valley community. Thank you! I invite you to visit our website www.parentsplacefrc.com for our current calendar of events and digital resources. All our workshops, conferences, and support groups are open year-round via Zoom until this worldwide pandemic allows us to meet in person once again. Until then, I urge everyone to help one another. May the new year bless you with health, wealth, and happiness. May we all do our part as selfless giving is the art of living.

Dear Families, Friends, Professionals and Community Members,
We have been implementing our new schedule for about six weeks, supporting families and our community remotely. My hope is that you and your family are doing well and you are all safe. Our current situation is creating new temporary ways of living that will eventually show how resilient we are during challenging times.
Many of you are working, sometimes extra hours to accomplish the essential services we need to get through this pandemic. I am grateful for all those in essential positions supporting our community at large. Government workers are providing services for our community; truck drivers are bustling to restock stores; supermarket clerks are assisting us with our food and manning counters; teachers have transitioned their curriculum online for students; families are coming together to ensure their needs are being met.
Thank you to our local partners who are now sharing their information online. The San Gabriel Pomona Regional Center is also working remotely to provide coordinated services to new families and current families and individuals with special needs. Spiritt Family has now transitioned their family workshops to Zoom meetings (page 9). California Peer-Run Warm Line connects with people over the phone to share Mental Health resources (page 14).
Here at Parents’ Place Family Resource Center we are ensuring that our families who have children with special needs, do not go without resources. Our staff is available to support you via-phone, online and email. Some resources include: Local food bank locations, as well as educational resources for youth and young adults as they are learning from home. We are also assisting families with filling out Cal-Fresh applications remotely, Monday through Friday from 9am to 4:30pm via phone and online.
We need each other more than ever and we are here for you.
Please visit our website as we have ongoing, updated information, www.parentsplacefrc.com. If you have any questions or are in need of a resource that you are not able to locate, let us know. We are more than happy to help you find it.
In the end, it is about caring for our families, listening to our leaders and implementing the guidelines recommended by our health care professionals. Let’s stay home whenever possible, practice good hygiene, play, talk and enjoy our time together as a family.
Wishing you and your family the best. As always, please do not hesitate to call us for support at (626) 919-1091.
