Dear Families, Friends, Professionals and Community Members,
We have been implementing our new schedule for about six weeks, supporting families and our community remotely. My hope is that you and your family are doing well and you are all safe. Our current situation is creating new temporary ways of living that will eventually show how resilient we are during challenging times. Many of you are working, sometimes extra hours to accomplish the essential services we need to get through this pandemic. I am grateful for all those in essential positions supporting our community at large. Government workers are providing services for our community; truck drivers are bustling to restock stores; supermarket clerks are assisting us with our food and manning counters; teachers have transitioned their curriculum online for students; families are coming together to ensure their needs are being met. Thank you to our local partners who are now sharing their information online. The San Gabriel Pomona Regional Center is also working remotely to provide coordinated services to new families and current families and individuals with special needs. Spiritt Family has now transitioned their family workshops to Zoom meetings (page 9). California Peer-Run Warm Line connects with people over the phone to share Mental Health resources (page 14). Here at Parents’ Place Family Resource Center we are ensuring that our families who have children with special needs, do not go without resources. Our staff is available to support you via-phone, online and email. Some resources include: Local food bank locations, as well as educational resources for youth and young adults as they are learning from home. We are also assisting families with filling out Cal-Fresh applications remotely, Monday through Friday from 9am to 4:30pm via phone and online. We need each other more than ever and we are here for you. Please visit our website as we have ongoing, updated information, www.parentsplacefrc.com. If you have any questions or are in need of a resource that you are not able to locate, let us know. We are more than happy to help you find it. In the end, it is about caring for our families, listening to our leaders and implementing the guidelines recommended by our health care professionals. Let’s stay home whenever possible, practice good hygiene, play, talk and enjoy our time together as a family. Wishing you and your family the best. As always, please do not hesitate to call us for support at (626) 919-1091.
