Self-Determination Program...What is it?
Self-Determination Program (SDP) is a voluntary, alternative to the traditional way of receiving regional center services. It provides:
Clients and their families with more control over the services and supports they need. For example, clients/families may purchase existing services from services providers or local businesses, hire support workers or negotiate unique arrangements with local community resources.
Self-determination provides clients, and their families, with an individual budget, which they can use to purchase the services and supports they need to implement their Individual Program Plan (IPP).
